The Bee\u2019ah-Masdar joint venture will <\/span><span class=\"s1\">utilise this valuable platform to highlight the unique features of its revolutionary project, and the UAE\u2019s first waste-to-energy facility, the Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Formed in 2015, through a partnership between sustainability pioneer, Bee\u2019ah, and renewable energy leader, Masdar, the Emirates Waste to Energy Company (EWEC) is securing the green energy future of the region, by setting up waste-to-energy projects across the Middle East. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As a first-time exhibitor, EWEC will be showcasing its best practices in converting waste into energy, and how this type of renewable energy will catalyse the achievement of the UAE\u2019s Vision 2021 goals. The company will also exhibit a model of the Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility, and demonstrate the unique features of this iconic project. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking on behalf of the EWEC, Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO of Bee\u2019ah, said, \u201cWe are pleased to showcase the achievements and projects of the Emirates Waste to Energy Company at this edition of WETEX. The EWEC is redefining the landscape of clean energy in the UAE, especially with the establishment of our flagship project, the Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility. As the region\u2019s first waste-to-energy plant, this facility demonstrates an innovative approach to commercialising energy solutions, while ensuring sustainable growth. It will also facilitate the achievement of the UAE\u2019s Vision 2021 targets of <\/span><span class=\"s2\">deriving 24% of energy from clean sources, and of diverting 75% of waste away from landfills.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s4\">Located within Bee\u2019ah\u2019s Waste Management Center in Sharjah, the Sharjah Waste to\u00a0Energy\u00a0facility will process more than 37.5 tonnes of municipal solid waste (MSW) per hour to generate electricity sustainably.\u00a0The plant, which\u00a0is expected to come on stream by 2021, will divert\u00a0300,000 tonnes of municipal waste away from landfills every year, by processing this waste to generate 30 MW of energy and power up to 28,000 homes.\u00a0\u00a0Operating at full capacity, it will contribute significantly to reaching Sharjah\u2019s zero-waste-to-landfill goal. The project is making significant progress, following the awarding of the DBO contract to French contractor CNIM earlier this year, and the securing of financing commitments from global banking leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAs Abu Dhabi\u2019s global renewable energy company, Masdar is not only committed to advancing solar power in the region and international markets, it also has a leading position in wind energy and is actively pursuing commercial opportunities in other high-potential clean technologies, including storage, energy and water efficiency, and waste to energy,\u201d said Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOur business strategy is also founded on world-class partnerships, of which Emirates Waste to Energy Company is a perfect example,\u201d Al Ramahi added. \u201cWe are looking forward to highlighting our successful collaboration with Bee\u2019ah in the UAE\u2019s first waste to energy project at WETEX, as well our partnership with DEWA in Phase 3 of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai, and our presence in more than 20 countries worldwide.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition to its exhibits at stand G74 in Zabeel Hall 3, <\/span><span class=\"s5\">EWEC will also <\/span><span class=\"s4\">share insights into MENA&#8217;s evolving waste to energy sector, and on the development of the Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility, during a special presentation and panel discussion at the concurrent\u00a0Dubai Solar Week, on\u00a0the 24th of October.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bee\u2019ah-Masdar joint venture to present innovative solutions in renewable energy to sustainability leaders and policy makers in the Middle East.
