The landmark event will take place from the 9<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to the 12<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> of September 2019, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Two of Bee\u2019ah\u2019s joint venture entities will be represented at the event. ION, which was launched as the region\u2019s first commercial sustainable transport company through a partnership with Crescent Enterprises, is the official sustainable transport partner for the event. Aimed at driving a fully green fleet management enterprise in the UAE and the MENA region, through a \u2018zero emission transport system\u2019, ION will also demonstrate Bee\u2019ah\u2019s commitment to zero-emission transport solutions at its booth at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Emirates Waste to Energy Company (EWTE), Bee\u2019ah\u2019s joint venture with Masdar, will present its revolutionary projects at the Bee\u2019ah stand and introduce visitors to its iconic project and the UAE\u2019s first waste-to-energy plant, the Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Upon completion in 2020, the 30 MW facility will process more than 37.5 tonnes of municipal solid waste (MSW) per hour to generate electricity sustainably; and divert more than 300,000 tonnes of municipal waste away from landfills every year. Operating at full capacity, it will contribute significantly to reaching the UAE\u2019s target of diverting 75 percent of its solid waste from landfills by 2021, as well as Sharjah\u2019s zero-waste-to-landfill goal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One of the key themes of this year\u2019s World Energy Congress, featuring leading international officials, thought leaders and environmental experts, will be \u201cEnergising the Circular Economy\u201d. HE Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO of Bee\u2019ah, will participate in a panel discussion on this subject on the opening day of the conference where he is expected to share the pioneering work that Bee\u2019ah has successfully undertaken in this field, through its own operation and via joint ventures such as ION and Emirates Waste to Energy Company. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Commenting on the participation of Emirates Waste to Energy Company, HE Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO of Bee\u2019ah, said, \u201cWe are honoured to participate in the 24<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> World Energy Congress, to discuss with global industry leaders how we facilitate the development of a more sustainable future. From the beginning of our journey in 2007, Bee\u2019ah adopted a holistic approach to sustainability, and we now have operations spanning sectors such as waste, water, air, technology, transport and energy. We are building the UAE\u2019s first waste-to-energy plant, in partnership with Masdar. And along with the facility, we are exploring new energy technologies to support the UAE Vision 2021 target of meeting <\/span><span class=\"s3\">27 <\/span><span class=\"s1\">percent of energy requirements from clean sources<\/span><span class=\"s3\">. ION\u2019s presence at WEC affirms that the transportation sector in the UAE is evolving, complementing the nation\u2019s transition to a sustainable economy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The World Energy Congress is the world\u2019s largest, longest-running and most influential energy gathering, which takes place every three years in select international cities. This edition will mark the first time the Congress has been hosted in a Middle Eastern city, and by an OPEC member country, in the event\u2019s 94-year history. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Unique in its coverage of the entire energy spectrum from oil and gas to renewables and nuclear, as well as power, the World Energy Congress provides a forum for the industry\u2019s largest and most diverse conversation.
